Ichthyosis
The forms of ichthyosis vary according to type and clinical form of the disease.
Several forms can be distinguished:
- Ichthyosis vulgaris – the most common;
- Harlequin (fetal) ichthyosis – the most severe form, with thick plaques covering the entire body;
- Lamellar ichthyosis – the newborn is covered by a translucent membrane that desquamates;
- X-linked ichthyosis – affects mainly males and presents large, dark scales;
- Epidermolytic ichthyosis – characterized by extreme skin fragility and blistering.
